Mangalore 18th June:Samanvaya Mangalore along with Women Association of Sastan parish had organized the valedictory of Fr Bernard D’Souza Memorial six months’ free Tailoring Course at Sastan Church premises on June 17, 2009.

The parish priest of Sastan Rev. Fr Vincent Martis expressed his satisfaction over the course and the keen interest taken by women to empower themselves.  He appreciated the work done by Samanvaya to empower the weaker sections of the society throughout Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts. The chief guest Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues, parish priest of Yermal parish distributed the certificates to women candidates who had successfully completed the course. He said that the vision of Fr Bernard has been actualized by Samanvaya. 
Rev. Dr Ronald Cutinha, director of Samanvaya said in his message, “Tailoring education is an important milestone in women empowerment. This training supplements the school education and enables women to build a bright career”.
The president of Women Association Mrs Elsie Lewis welcomed, Veera Pinto proposed vote of thanks and Dora Pinto compered. The president of DCCW Mrs Leena Roche Brahmavar and the managing trustee of Samanvaya Rev. Dr Pius Fidelis Pinto were present on the dais.
