Kelmbet:Samanvaya a registered NGO of Mangalore along with Kelmbet parish started its Eighth 9 months’ free Tailoring cum Embroidery Course in memory of late Fr.Bernard D’souza at Abbanadka, near Kelmbet church on April 5, 2010 for the benefit of women of the locality. Mrs.Philomena Headmistress of Little Flower Higher Primary School, Ittimary inaugurated the course by cutting the ribbon. The chief guest Mrs.Gretta Miranda of Bejai garlanded the photo of late Fr.Bernard D’souza and gave a call to the women to use this opportunity to expedite their talents.

Rev.Dr.Ronald Cutinha, director of Samanvaya explained the objectives, history and social activities of Samanvaya and revealed the reason for starting such free tailoring cum embroidery courses in the nooks and corners of Mangalore diocese in view of empowering women.

The coordinator of Samanvaya Sr.Mabel D’souza introduced the guests. The parish priest of Kelmbet parish Rev. Fr Peter Pinto who was chiefly responsible for this course welcomed and proposed vote of thanks. 23 women candidates enrolled for the tailoring course.
