Mangalore:Valedictory of Tailoring & Embroidery Course at Shakthinagar

Mangalore: Samanvaya Mangalore and Maria Jyothi Women Association of Shakthinagar parish had jointly organized the valedictory ceremony of Fr Bernard D’Souza Memorial six months’ Tailoring Course at Shakthinagar Church hall on August 16, 2010.

The parish priest of Shakthinagar parish Rev. Fr Vernon Vas distributed the certificates to women candidates who had successfully completed the course and appreciated the work done by Samanvaya by funding the project. He said, “this training brought the unity among the local women without the barrier of caste, religion, colour and helped to improve their talents”.   Rev. Dr Ronald Cutinha, director of Samanvaya shared his experience of the past 6 tailoring cum embroidery courses conducted in different areas of Udupi and D.K. districts under the leadership of Samanvaya.  He said, “the vision of Fr Bernard has been actualized by Samanvaya”.  He congratulated the certificate holders for their perseverance and dedication manifested through 95% above attendance. The tailoring teacher Mrs Chandrakala shared her feelings.
Ex-President of Maria Jyothi Women Association Mrs Irene Carlo was present on the dais.  Irene D’souza welcomed, Asha Lobo proposed vote of thanks and Jessy Monis compeered. The report of the course was read by Rosy D’souza.  4 candidates shared their experiences.
