Mangalore: P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore will be organizing a competition on the 9th of October, 2010 for all high school students in the Udupi, Mangalore and Kasaragod region. The basic idea behind the competition is to promote and encourage the use of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) in the academic community. The competition, ByteStruck'10, comprises of two events and a workshop. The events are based on two easy to use tools - Scratch and Joomla. Scratch is an animation tool developed at MIT and Joomla is a content management system for designing professional web sites. All documentation, software and video tutorials will be provided to all registering teams. The free workshop on  Apache Web Server setup will be  conducted by the Linux Users Group at PACE and is open to all the participants and staff accompanying the students.
