Mangalore :  Formation of “Late Victor Rodrigues Memorial Fund ” and his Book Release titled “Bonglyanthli Khun” Late Mr Victor Rodrigues was fondly remembered on the occasion of his first death anniversary by his family, friends and well-wishers.  A function to pay homage to him was organized by his family at Bendur Church Hall Mangalore on 30th July 2011 attended by many of the Konkani writers besides his relatives and friends.



Rev. Fr Antony Michael Serrao, Bendur Parish Priest commenced the function by prayers.  A close friend Dr Edward Nazareth condoled the family of late Mr Victor Rodrigues and in homage spoke on his abundant contribution to the Konkani Literature from the young age of 23.   Not highly educated but was a gifted writer and he made use of his talent to reach the Konkani lovers through his memorable stories.  He was a down to earth person and lived a simple life endearing himself to one and all. His job was never in the way of his writing abilities. His untimely demise is a great loss to the Konkani world and this void can never be filled.  Mr Victor Rodrigues is no more with us but he will continue living through several of his useful publications and stories, said Dr Nazareth. There was a power point presentation on the life and death of Mr Victor Rodrigues.  












In memory of her late husband and on the occasion of his first death anniversary, his wife Mrs Celine Rodrigues released his first Novel, earlier published in “Poinari”, a Konkani weekly, titled “bonglyanthli Khun” and also installed a fund in his memory under the management of Samanvaya and handed over a cheque of ` 1,00,000/- to Rev Dr Pius F. Pinto, Managing Trustee.  This fund will be utilized for an annual award to someone who is contributing to the Konkani language by way of literature, novels, stories, etc.   She also announced the entire rights of sale of all literary works of late Victor Rodrigues to Samanvaya.

Rev Dr Pius F. Pinto recollected the yester years with Victor Rodrigues and spoke a few words on the newly released novel.  Mr Relston Crasta proposed vote of thanks.  Rev Dr Ronald Cutinha, Director Samanvaya compered the programme and also preached the homily during his Death Anniversary Holy Mass held just prior to the function.
